Edition 001, in the making

The word

has·watch /hæz·wɒtʃ/ verb

to hold one of ten; to own a stone older than the industry that measures time with it.

“She haswatches. Nº 06/10.”

Manifesto

Most watches are made in the millions.
These are made in the ten.

HAS is a watch project from dthas, a Den Haag software studio that builds things precisely or not at all. The first edition is ten pieces. Not ten thousand, not ten variants: ten watches, each with a dial cut from a different stone.

A stone dial cannot be reprinted. The slice that becomes Nº 03 exists once, formed over millions of years and finished by hand to a fraction of a millimetre. When ten are gone, the edition is closed and the next one begins from zero.
