Edition 001 begins

Every watch project starts somewhere between a sketch and a spreadsheet. This one starts with stone. Before a case profile, before a movement, we chose the ten dials: meteorite, lapis lazuli, malachite, onyx, marble, turquoise, carnelian, rhodochrosite, tiger’s eye, opal. One piece per stone, ten pieces total, and the edition is closed.

Why stone first? Because it is the one decision that cannot be revised quietly. A stone dial is cut, not printed; the slice that goes into Nº 03 exists once. Everything else in the watch will be engineered around what these materials demand, thickness, backing, the way each one takes light.

Turquoise earns a word of its own. The stone is literally named for Turkey; the French called it pierre turquoise, the Turkish stone, because it reached Europe through Turkish traders. The founder of this house is a Turkish engineer in the Netherlands. Some signatures you choose; this one was waiting.

What is not decided: the case (steel, 38 to 40 millimetres, is the current conversation), the movement (automatic, sourced from a manufacture we can stand behind), the strap system. Those decisions will be written up here as they are made, including the wrong turns.
